THE SELFISH GIANT
presented by Glasgow East Arts Company, Glasgow Life and Wee Stories December 2010 at Platform at the Bridge
Based on the beautifully poignant short story by Oscar Wilde, The Selfish Giant is set in the Scottish highlands and tells the tale of a giant who builds an enormous wall around his garden to keep everyone out. Soon Snow, Hail, Frost, and the North Wind take up permanent residence in his garden.
On the other side of the wall spring returns to Scotland but in the giant’s garden it now remains winter all year round…
Will the giant realize that it is he who has built this cold, bleak lonely world around himself?
"The whole theatre bounces as bunnies and bears go into their dance – while the squirrel’s mantra of ‘num-num-num, love those nuts’ echoed out across the car park afterwards." ****The Herald
